The short answer

NHTSA received Forest River, Inc.’s report on Jun 9, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

With the extra passengers, the GVWR may be exceeded and the vehicle may be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.

Forest River, Inc.

(Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2017 Georgetown motorhomes manufactured May 17, 2016, through May 9, 2016.

These vehicles were accidentally equipped with two seat belt assemblies on the rear-facing dinette seat, allowing the vehicle to transport up to eight passengers instead of six passengers as the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) was based on.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
