What’s wrong with it?
If the brush chipper separates from the tow vehicle, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 BC900XL wood chippers manufactured June 8, 2012, to May 31, 2016.
The chassis of the affected wood chippers may have improper welds which could result in separation of the wood chipper from the tow vehicle.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
