The short answer

NHTSA received Bugatti’s report on Apr 8, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 23, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The inaccurate gauge may cause a driver to unexpectedly run out of fuel and the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Bugatti is recalling certain model year 2006-2010 Veyron vehicles manufactured March 10, 2006, to January 17, 2010 and 2010-2011 Veyron Grand Sport vehicles manufactured September 29, 2009, to June 30, 2010.

In the affected vehicles, the fuel tank gauge may indicate that there is more fuel in the tank than there actually is.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
