The short answer

NHTSA received BUGATTI’s report on Mar 23, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If these jacking plates separate from the vehicle while driving, they may be a road hazard, potentially striking another vehicle, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Bugatti is recalling certain 2006-2010 Veyron vehicles manufactured March 10, 2006, to March 9, 2012, 2010-2012 Veyron Grand Sport vehicles manufactured September 29, 2009, to October 14, 2014, and 2011-2013 Veyron Super Sport vehicles manufactured February 18, 2011, to August 17, 2012.

In the affected vehicles, the underbody aluminum reference plates used when lifting the vehicle may corrode and detach from the vehicle.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
