The short answer

NHTSA received Mack Trucks, Inc.’s report on Feb 19, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the roll pin is missing, the steering shaft may disconnect from the yoke, resulting in a complete loss of steering and increasing the risk of a crash.

Mack Trucks, Inc.

(Mack) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Granite (GU) and TerraPro (MRU) trucks manufactured from November 9, 2015, through January 19, 2016.

The affected trucks may be missing a roll pin to secure the upper steering yoke to the steering shaft.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
