What’s wrong with it?
Incorrect Federal Placard information such as the Gross Axle Weight Rating could lead to reduced handling of the vehicle, potentially leading to loss of control or a crash.
Forest River, Inc.
(Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Wildcat recreational trailers, models WCF28SGX, WCF29RKP, WCF29RLX, and WCF31SAX, manufactured from September 25, 2015, through January 20, 2016.
The affected vehicles may have been produced with an incorrect Federal placard that has an improperly reduced Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 3500lbs.
The correct GAWR is 5200lbs.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
