The short answer

NHTSA received Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s report on Aug 12, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the tire experiences tread chunking in service the risk of a crash may be increased.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Goodyear) is recalling certain Dunlop SP50 tires, size P205/70R15 95T, manufactured December 2, 2012, to February 1, 2014.

The affected tires could experience tread chunking in service.

As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
