The short answer

NHTSA received Pirelli Tire LLC’s report on Apr 27, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

A missing date code could render the tire difficult to identify in the event of a safety-related issue, possibly causing them not to be removed from service. This will increase the risk of crash.

Pirelli Tire LLC (Pirelli) is recalling certain P Zero Trofeo tires sizes, 225/50ZR15 91Y, manufactured from April 1, 2015, through April 7, 2015, and 245/45ZR16 94Y manufactured from March 21, 2015, through March 26, 2015.

The affected tires may not be marked with a date code.

As such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 139, “New Pneumatic Radial Tires for Light Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
