The short answer

NHTSA received Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.’s report on Jul 11, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the vehicle stability system is not altered, the operator may lose control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.

(BRP) is recalling certain Coast to Coast accessory passenger seats, manufactured November 18, 2015, to April 4, 2016, and sold for use on Can-Am Spyder F3-series motorcycles.

When a passenger is sitting on the accessory seat, the seat may not activate a switch that changes the vehicle stability system to compensate for a passenger being on board.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
