The short answer

NHTSA received THULE, INC.’s report on Jun 8, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the bike detaches from the vehicle while it is being driven, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Thule (Thule Inc.) is recalling certain Sprint bicycle carriers, models 569/569000 and 528, manufactured December 1, 2013 through April 1, 2016.

The fork clamping mechanism may not properly secure the bike fork to the carrier, allowing the bike to detach from the vehicle.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
