What’s wrong with it?
If there is a delay of the spring brake application, the trailer may roll away after it has decoupled from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix) is recalling certain SR-5 Trailer Spring Brake Valves manufactured January 1, 2014, to March 4, 2016.
These brake valves were improperly machined without a radius on the internal check valve seat, causing a delay of application of the spring brakes while parking.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
