The short answer

NHTSA received ZF Group North America Operations’s report on Mar 7, 2016. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Should the tube crack and separate from the shaft of the vehicle, loss of vehicle control is possible, increasing the risk of a crash.

ZF Group North America Operations (ZF) is recalling certain Control Arms model numbers 0501 218 145, and 0501 211 327 manufactured June 23, 2015, to February 2, 2016.

The hot crimping that connects the tube ends to the control arm joint housing shafts may crack, causing the tube to separate from the shaft.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
