Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the drain valve is left open, sewer gas may fill the recreational vehicle, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Highland Ridge RV (Highland) is recalling certain model year 2015 Open Range fifth wheels and 2015-2016 3X fifth wheels and Highlander travel trailers manufactured May 8, 2014, to December 4, 2015 and equipped with a side vented sewer drainage system termination valve.
The affected vehicles may be missing a caution label to inform the operator not to leave the drain valve open to prevent an escape of sewer gas.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
