The short answer

NHTSA received Airstream, Inc.’s report on Oct 15, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the electrical connections are loose, or the ground wire is located incorrectly, the wiring may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Airstream, Inc.

(Airstream) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Interstate Grand Tour Extended vehicles manufactured July 11, 2014, to September 1, 2015, and Interstate Lounge Extended vehicles manufactured November 21, 2014, to September 1, 2015.

The affected vehicles may have electrical wiring connections that were not properly tightened and an interior wiring harness grounding wire that was installed incorrectly.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
