The short answer

NHTSA received Mack Trucks, Inc.’s report on Aug 17, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Contamination of the calipers may cause a loss of brakes on one wheel, lengthening the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Mack Trucks, Inc.

(Mack) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Pinnacle (CXU) trucks manufactured from October 3, 2012, through February 18, 2014 and equipped with Meritor air disc brakes.

In the affected vehicles, the brake chambers may have been incorrectly mounted resulting in internal contamination of the air brake calipers.

What should you do?

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the disc brake caliper and brake chamber to determine if the washers are located in the correct position. If the washers are in the correct position, no further action is required. If the washers are not located in the correct position, replacement of the disc brake caliper and brake chamber will be performed and the addition of two washers per brake assembly will be installed, free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2015. Owners may contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack’s number for this recall is SC0392.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
