Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
Failing to meet the rear impact protection requirements increases the risk of injury to occupants of a vehicle that collides with the rear of the trailer.
Strick Trailers, LLC (Strick) is recalling certain model year 2013 Dry Freight Van Trailers, model number S4280E99NFWOP, manufactured October 1, 2012, to July 15, 2013.
As built, the trailers have tires that are more than 12 inches forward of the rear of the trailer.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 224, “Rear Impact Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
