Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the trailer exceeds the load rating on the tire, the tire may suddenly fail, increasing the risk of a crash.
Tracker Marine L.L.C.
(Tracker) is recalling certain model year 2016 Trailstar Tahoe boat trailers, models 400, 450, 500, and 550, manufactured March 23, 2015, to June 24, 2015.
The affected trailers were built with wheels that have load range “C” tires installed, instead of load range “D” tires as specified.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims and Motor Home/Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
