The short answer

NHTSA received Ferrari North America, Inc.’s report on May 26, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The incorrect message may cause the driver to continue driving on a punctured tire, causing a loss of vehicle control, and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ferrari North America, Inc.

(FNA) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 LaFerrari vehicles manufactured May 15, 2014, to March 4, 2015.

In the event of a tire puncture, the affected vehicles will display the incorrect warning message of “Low Tyre Pressure-Max speed 50 mph” instead of the correct message “Low Tyre Pressure-Do not proceed.” As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 138, “Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
