The short answer

NHTSA received KTM North America, Inc.’s report on Feb 2, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the piston rod detaches within the fork leg, the front suspension could malfunction and destabilize the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

KTM North America, Inc.

(KTM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Husqvarna FE 350 S and FE 501 S motorcycles manufactured from July 23, 2014, to October 17, 2014.

In the forks of the affected motorcycles, the threaded connection between the piston rod and fork cap may not have been sufficiently tightened and therefore the piston rod could become stuck within the fork leg.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
