What’s wrong with it?
If the tires experience tread cracking, it may result in a loss of tire pressure and possible tire failure, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (Goodyear) is recalling certain Fortera HL P255/65R18 109S tires manufactured November 30, 2014, to January 10, 2015.
The affected tires experienced cracking of the tread during tire endurance testing inspection.
Thus, these tires fail to comply with requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 139, “New pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which tires, by their DOT codes: the range is in the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site, not in this file. Check the code on your tire’s sidewall against it.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
