The short answer

NHTSA received Cummins Inc.’s report on Oct 20, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the turbocharger oil supply line oil leaks in the proximity of the engine exhaust manifold there would be an increased risk of a fire.

Cummins Inc.

(Cummins) is recalling certain Cummins Westport ISL G engines manufactured September 13, 2007, to September 23, 2015.

The affected engines were sold for use exclusively in Mack Trucks and Navistar vehicles, both as original equipment and as replacement equipment.

These engines have a turbocharger oil supply line that may contact or interfere with the turbocharger inlet elbow, clean air intake clamp, or the air fuel control tube, and result in an oil leak.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
