What’s wrong with it?
Failed helmet restraints can increase the risk of serious personal injury to the occupant.
H&H Sports Protection (H&H) is recalling certain VCAN V528 Milano helmets, sizes XS, S, M, L and XL, manufactured April 1, 2008, to October 9, 2014.
The helmet retention systems failed during high temperature testing.
Also, the required labeling may not be found on the helmets.
As such, these helmets do not meet the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, “Motorcycle helmets.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
