The short answer

NHTSA received ZF Group North America Operations’s report on Jun 10, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Cracks in the hub may result in hub failure, which could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

ZF Group North America Operations (ZF) is recalling certain Hub Carriers manufactured January 17, 2014, to June 1, 2015.

Due to casting problems, the affected hub carriers may have areas of porosity which may result in the hub carrier leaking oil or cracking.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
