What’s wrong with it?

If the wheel studs break while the trailer is being used, wheel separation may occur, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Industrial Axle Company (IAC) is recalling certain ALKO AXIS Axles, model numbers H52, QF48, QF52, QF60, QF70, D52, D60, T52, and T60, part number 363239.9, manufactured March 9, 2015, to April 17, 2015.

The affected axle hubs have wheel mounting studs that may fail.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
