The short answer

NHTSA received Ohlins Racing AB’s report on Mar 30, 2015. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the piston rod nut loosens, shock absorber performance would be affected, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Ohlins Racing AB (Ohlins) is recalling certain TTX36 aftermarket motorcycle shock absorbers manufactured November 5, 2013, to February 20, 2015.

A complete list of the affected models and the motorcycles that they fit can be viewed by clicking on file RCORRD-15E025-7729.pdf under Associated Documents.

The nut on the damper rod for these shock absorbers may loosen, resulting in a loss of damping and the possible disassembling of the shock.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
