What’s wrong with it?
Without adequate lubrication to the wheel end hub assembly, the bearings may fail prematurely, increasing the risk of a crash.
Meritor, Inc.
(Meritor) is recalling certain MT-40-14X Rear Drive Train axles manufactured November 11, 2014, to December 18, 2014.
Due to an incorrect carrier and housing combination, the axles may have low lubricant levels that can cause the axle sump to inadequately circulate lubricant to the wheel end hub assembly.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
