Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
If the event of a fire, if the pressure tank has previously vented, the system would not be functional to help extinguish the fire, increasing the risk of injury.
Prevost Cars, Inc.(Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 XL2, XL2 Shells, X3 Shell Converted Coaches, and X3 motorcoaches manufactured January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2011, and equipped with an automatic fire suppression system (AFSS) pressure tank in the engine compartment.
The tank’s pressure relief valve may not withstand the temperatures in the engine compartment, resulting in the venting of the extinguishing agent.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
