What’s wrong with it?
If the ball sockets come loose from the tie rod, a complete loss of steering may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
Mack Trucks, Inc.
(Mack) is recalling certain model year 2015 CHU and CXU trucks manufactured from March 31, 2014, through June 26, 2014.
In the affected vehicles, the collars that prevent the ball sockets from backing out of the tie rod may have been incorrectly positioned.
This may allow the ball sockets to come loose.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
