Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
A vehicle operator could inadvertently overload the trailer due to the incorrect information on the label and induce premature tire wear or a tire failure, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
Jayco, Inc.
(Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2015 Jay Flight trailers manufactured July 10, 2014, to October 24, 2014.
The affected trailers may have been manufactured with cargo carrying capacity labels that overstate the load carrying capacity.
Thus these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicles Safety Standards No.110, “Tire Selection and Rims and Motor Home/Recreation Vehicle Trailer Load Carrying Capacity Information for Motor Vehicles with a GVWR of 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) or less.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
