The short answer

NHTSA received Chrysler Group LLC’s report on Sep 4, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the vehicle is struck from behind, the head restraint may not properly limit the seat occupant’s head movement rearward, increasing the risk of injury.

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling all model year 2014 Ram ProMaster vans manufactured July 1, 2013, to August 26, 2014.

The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with head restraints that exceed the maximum backset measurement limit of 55mm.

As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 202a, “Head Restraints.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
