The short answer

NHTSA received Strick Corporation’s report on Jul 9, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

These rear impact guards increase the risk of injury in the event of a vehicle crash.

Strick Trailers, LLC (Strick) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 single axle van trailers manufactured March 2010 to March 2014.

The affected trailers may be equipped with rear impact guard gussets part numbers 59653 and 59654.

These rear impact guard gussets increase the chances of injury in the event of an accident.

Thus, these trailers fail to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicles Safety Standards No. 223, “Rear Impact Guards.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
