The short answer

NHTSA received Altec Industries Inc.’s report on Jun 19, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the torsion bar welds fail, the vehicle may become unstable, increasing the risk of injury to the operator using the aerial device.

Altec Industries, Inc.

(Altec) is recalling certain model year 2013 AT237, and 2013-2014 AT3X-G, AT40-G, and AT248F aerial trucks manufactured August 2013 through April 2014, built on Ford F-450 and F-550 chassis, and equipped with front “Stable Ride” torsion bars.

These torsion bars have welds that could fail.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
