The short answer

NHTSA received Van Hool N.V.’s report on Jun 4, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 24, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the seat belt is not properly secured to the anchorage, the driver is at an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Van Hool N.V.

(Van Hool) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 TX40 motorcoaches manufactured January 2014 through June 2014, and TX45 motorcoaches manufactured September 2013 through June 2014.

The driver seat belt assembly may not be properly secured to the B-pillar anchorage and as a result the driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash.

As such, the vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
