The short answer

NHTSA received Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC’s report on Jun 2, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

Vehicles that have the generic software may put the occupants at an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2013 Jaguar XJ vehicles manufactured May 21, 2012, through July 10, 2012.

The generic software calibration installed on the vehicles’ Restraints Control Module (RCM) may not meet the specification for proper operation of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

As such, these vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
