The short answer

NHTSA received Three Feathers Manufacturing, LLC’s report on Feb 12, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer or camper at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.

Three Feathers Manufacturing, LLC.

(Three Feathers) is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Mule Cargo trailers, 2012-2014 Backpacker 2 trailers, 2009-2011 Buckboard Cargo Haulers, 2009-2013 Backpacker trailers, 2008-2014 Pinecone Tear Drop trailers, 2010-2011 Pelican Cargo trailers, 2012-2013 Tumbleweed Tear Drop trailers, 2011 Tumbleweed Campers, one 2011 Custom Cargo trailer, one 2010 Custom Camper, one 2008 Cargo trailer shell (no chassis), one 2010 5th Wheel Cargo trailer and one 2014 Backpacker 2 XT trailer all equipped with Fastec-brand door locks.

It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
