Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
S-cam bracket fractures may result in an inoperative brake on the affected wheel. This will cause the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly during braking and/or increase the stopping distance. Either result may increase the risk of a crash.
Caterpillar Inc.
(Caterpillar) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 CT660 trucks manufactured August 2011 through August 2012, and equipped with feature code 0504501, 0504504, or 04EWM Reduced Stopping Distance (RSD) brake linings and with or without feature code 04WCS Greased For Life front air S-cam brakes.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
