What’s wrong with it?
As a result, the trailer may be loaded beyond the specified weight rating which may cause a tire or suspension failure leading to poor vehicle handling and an increased risk of a crash.
Heartland Recreational Trailers, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2014 Sundance 2880RLT travel trailers manufactured November 20, 2013, through January 31, 2014.
In the affected vehicles, the Federal Certification label incorrectly states that the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 16,500 pounds instead of the correct GVWR of 13,500 pounds.
As such, the vehicle does not conform to Part 567, “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
