The short answer

NHTSA received Carefree Of Colorado’s report on Nov 17, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

The screws could fail, causing the supporting bracket to fail, and the awning to fall and potentially strike and injure a person beneath it.

Carefree of Colorado (Carefree) is recalling certain Latitude Awnings styles GX and G manufactured April 10, 2014, to November 4, 2014.

The awnings were supplied to various vehicle manufacturers as original equipment for use in manufacturing new motorhomes.

The affected awnings may have screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets that were not manufactured to specification.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
