What’s wrong with it?

Warning triangles that do not properly reflect light may fail to warn others that a vehicle is parked, increasing the risk of a crash.

Navistar, Inc.

(Navistar) is recalling certain FLTTRIKIT3 warning triangle kits manufactured August 15, 2012, to July 25, 2014.

The affected warning triangles may reflect an inadequate amount of light.

As such, these warning triangles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 125, “Warning devices.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
