What’s wrong with it?
If the triangle blows over in wind gusts, such as those from passing vehicles, other drivers may not be adequately warned of a stopped vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Buyers Products Company (Buyers Products) is recalling certain warning triangles, part numbers ERT10 (3 pack), and ERT01 (single piece) manufactured March 2011 to June 2014.
Due to having an insufficiently rigid joint between the base and the triangle and being improperly filled with ballast, the affected triangles may blow over from wind gusts.
As such, the triangles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 125 “Warning Devices.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
