What’s wrong with it?

The helmet may not adequately protect the wearer in the event of a crash.

Tucker Rocky Distribution (Tucker Rocky) is recalling certain models of Cyber River Road Grateful Dead U-6 motorcycle helmets, small and medium sizes, manufactured in December 2012.

During testing, the affected helmets failed to conform to the impact attenuation requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218, “Motorcycle Helmets.”

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
