The short answer

NHTSA received Meritor Wabco Vehicle Control Systems’s report on Mar 5, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the trailer parking brakes do not engage, an unattached trailer could unexpectedly roll away, increasing the risk of a crash or injury to those nearby.

Meritor Wabco Vehicle Control Systems (Meritor Wabco) is recalling certain trailer spring brake control valves sold as replacement parts with dates codes ending in 0113 through 1113.

The affected spring brake control valves (SBCV) have an intake/exhaust valve which may come apart and prevent the parking brake from engaging.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
