The short answer

NHTSA received B&W Custom Truck Beds, Inc.’s report on Jan 17, 2014. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the securing pin fractures, the trailer being towed could separate from the vehicle increasing the risk of a crash.

B&W Custom Truck Beds (B&W) is recalling certain Tow & Stow Adjustable Ball Mounts manufactured from February 7, 2013, through January 7, 2014 and equipped with Nitrotec-coated steel pins to secure the ball mounts to the trailer hitches.

The securing pins of the affected ball mounts may fracture while being used.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Which ones, by part or lot: the recall’s report on NHTSA’s site gives them where the maker did; this file gives part numbers only where its maker listed them.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
