The short answer
NHTSA received Hino Motors Sales U.S.A., Inc.’s report on Dec 16, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
An operator relying on the documents to determine the truck’s GVWR may load the vehicle beyond the actual weight rating, possibly resulting in tire or suspension failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Hino Motor Sales (Hino) is recalling certain model year 2013 NV8J vehicles manufactured November 13, 2012, through February 8, 2013.
The affected vehicles were modified to have a lower Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), however the vehicle documentation shows the full GVWR.
As such, the information on the documents does not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Part 567 “Certification.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
