The short answer

NHTSA received Starcraft Bus’s report on May 14, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.

Starcraft Bus is recalling certain model year 2006-2012 Allstar buses manufactured November 2006, through July 2012.

The affected buses are equipped with a Ricon manufactured wheelchair lift which may have an optional armored pendant cable.

The cable may have been installed such that it doesn’t clear the wheelchair lift and without a protective cover, or a misinstalled protective cover.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
