The short answer

NHTSA received Altec Industries Inc.’s report on May 10, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If the jib fails while the crane is in operation, it could pose a risk of injury to people in close proximity.

Altec is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 AC35/38 cranes equipped with 31-55 foot telescopic jibs built between 2010 and 2011.

The jib attachment bracket is not sufficient for loads that can occur when the fully extended jib is lifted off the ground.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
