What’s wrong with it?
Loss of braking ability can lead to loss of control of the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash, serious injuries, or property damage.
Magic Tilt Trailers is recalling certain boat trailers manufactured October 17, 2011, through January 24, 2012.
These trailers are equipped with brake actuators manufactured by Carlisle.
On some of the pumps, one of the rotating components in the hydraulic pump for the brakes may have missed a heat treat operation causing the actuator to wear at a higher than normal rate.
As a result, the hydraulic pump could fail and result in a loss of braking ability in the trailer.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
