The short answer

NHTSA received Jayco, Inc.’s report on Apr 30, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.

Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.

What’s wrong with it?

If motor damage occurs, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the motorhome is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Jayco is recalling certain model year 2013-14 Eagle Premiere, Jay Feather Ultra Lite, Jay Flight, Jay Flight Swift, Octane, and White Hawk; model year 2013 Eagle, Eagle HT, Jay Flight Bungalow, Jay Flight Destination, Pinnacle, Redhawk and Seismic; and model year 2014 Precept recreational vehicles.

In these vehicles, if the awning installation sequence is not completely followed, the awning motor may unknowingly become damaged.

What the record doesn’t say

  • NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
  • Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
  • This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
  • How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
