NHTSA received Prevost Cars, Inc.’s report on Apr 19, 2013. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 20, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
Without the transmission locking to prevent movement, if the parking brake lock fails while the wheelchair lift door is open, the bus may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of injury.
Prevost is recalling one model year 2013 H3-45 coach bus manufactured November 14, 2011, through July 3, 2012.
In the affected bus, the transmission has the wrong software and may not lock to prevent movement while the wheelchair lift door is open.
Thus, this bus fails to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 403, “Platform Lift Systems for Motor Vehicles.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
