What’s wrong with it?
The inadequate mounting brackets may allow the outrigger to bend, reducing the stability of the crane truck which could result in injury, death, and/or property damage.
Altec is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 AC18, AC23, and AC38 cranes with front bumper outriggers mounted on Kenworth chassis between November 2010 and October 2012.
The brackets that attach the outrigger to the front bumper of the chassis may be inadequate to support the full capacity of the crane in certain positions.

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- This recall names only model years before 2015, which have no pages here. Your VIN, at NHTSA, says which recalls are open on a vehicle.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
